Welcoming Charlie

At tiQtoQ, our work experience programme is designed to open doors for individuals exploring new career paths, offering them hands-on insights into the world of quality assurance, technology, and business operations.

Recently, we welcomed Charlie to spend a week experiencing the day-to-day life at tiQtoQ. With limited prior knowledge of QA or the broader tech industry, Charlie came to us eager to learn more. His week was structured across key business areas.

An Introduction

The week began with an overview of tiQtoQ’s mission, structure, and strategic direction, demonstrating how various departments collaborate to deliver value to clients.

Charlie was introduced to the company’s flagship initiatives, including disQo.ai, and explored how tiQtoQ aligns its services to meet the needs of a wide range of industries. These sessions helped him learn how QA and testing integrate into real-world projects and the broader organisational strategy.

Throughout the week, Charlie found out about key frameworks and methodologies that guide modern software development. This included an introduction to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile working practices. Concepts such as mobilisation, delivery, and post-implementation support were discussed to give Charlie a sense of how long-term client projects are managed.

He also explored the difference between manual and automated testing, learned about various testing strategies, and saw how programme-level reporting and test cases play a critical role in evaluating project success.

Broader Business Insights

Charlie’s work experience programme also included exposure to other ‘back office’ business functions. These sessions helped him understand the importance of policy, culture, and resource planning.

Charlie heard from members of the team who had entered the tech industry through non-traditional pathways, through our Launch Pad scheme. These discussions demonstrated the accessibility of quality engineering as a career, and the potential to build expertise over time with the right support and opportunities.

Charlie's conclusion

Overall it was a really enjoyable work experience week, everyone I spoke to was helpful and clearly very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend the work experience programme to anyone who asked. Thanks again to tiQtoQ for the experience.

Our CEO Peter Jones added "Charlie has been an absolute credit to himself during his week with us at tiQtoQ. He approached every element of his work experience with focus, curiosity, and a real eagerness to learn - exactly the mindset we value here. It’s been a pleasure to have him on the team, and we look forward to seeing where his talents take him next."
